Joining  Arabic Letters

Connecting Arabic letters is the attachment or combination of two or more than two letters. While a letter joins another letter, it may change the different shape. Many letters have a similar shape but are different from one another by the number of dots and the position of dots.

The Common Rules of Connecting Arabic Letters:

1. Reading and writing Arabic letters is from right to left

2. Arabic Letters has four forms: individual, initial, medial, and final

The different in shape according to their position. So, one letter may have different shapes. Many letters of the Arabic Alphabet have a similar shape but are different from one another by the position of dots. Letters in isolation and final are mostly the same in shape. Letters in the initial and medial positions are mostly the same in shape.

3. Connecting the Arabic letters that have a tail, then the tail is removed.

4. There are  six letters which do not join to the next letter, these letters are:

ا - د - ذ - ر - ز - و

And the letters after these six letters are written like the shape at the beginning

5. The form of the hamzah can follow alif, wau, or yaa'.

ء = أ | ء = ؤ | ء = ئ

خ: خَشِعَ – سَخَطَ - نُسِخَ

د: دَرَسَ – بَدَأَ - شَهِدَ

ذ: ذَهَبَ - نَذَرَ – نَبَذَ

ر: رَحِمَ - كَرُمَ - غَفَرَ

ز: زَيَنَ – نَزَلَ – عَجَزَ

ع: عُرِفَ – فَعِلَ – وَضَعَ

غ: غَفَرَ – سَغَبَ - بَلِغَ

ف: فَعِلَ - غَفَرَ - وَقَفَ

ق: قَعَدَ – نَقَصَ - نَفَق

ك: كَرُمَ – مَكَنَ - مَلِكِ

ل: لَمَسَ – مَلِكِ - جَعَلَ

م: مَنَعَ – سَمِعَ - عَلِمَ

ن: نَقَصَ - مَنَعَ - سَكَنَ

و: وَعَدَ – قَوَلَ - عُلِوَ

ه: هَلَكَ - شَهِدَ – وَلَهُ

ء: أَكَلَ – سُئِلَ - قَرَأَ

ي: يَلِدُ – بَيَنَ - قُضِيَ

ة: حَسَنَةٌ
